Three Into One Don't Go

‘So you want to live dangerously again, do you?’ she whispered in his ear.

Desirable but depraved, Debora Kingham is loved by three men.

Her brother, a publisher of pornography, returning from the USA to the country of his birth, reminisces over their incestuous pre-teen romance of twenty years ago, half-hoping, half-fearing that the flame of their immature love will be re-ignited.

Her husband, father of her two children, talented yet weak, willing to turn a blind eye to her immoral behaviour and enjoy the fruits of her earnings, which include using her body as a tool for blackmail.  Willing, that is, until now.

Her paramour, a vicious crime lord with connections in the upper echelons of government that place him beyond the reach of the law, and a penchant for perversion that she is only too eager to satisfy.  His hold over her is absolute and unbreakable.

A vicious triangle of conflicting interests in which there can be only one winner…

I enjoyed this book. It was a page-turner, I wanted to know what was going to happen next and stormed through it in about three nights. The book is set in the '80s, where an estranged brother and sister, both in their mid-thirties, are reunited. The basis of the story, of their characters, is a very uncomfortable incestuous relationship in their childhood. The story floats between the characters in their relationship twenty years earlier and the impact is has on their lives as adults. The brother is a “player” and a ruthless business man. The sister is living the picket fence life in public, and messed up in all sorts of trouble behind closed doors. But, that doesn’t do it justice, there is so much more to this book. Deceit, cheating, blackmail, hostile take-overs and back room deals. There are story lines and characters in here that overlap and lead to unexpected twists. There is rarely a dull moment and I’ll be reading Degenarate, the sequel, as soon as it is available.

Not my kind of book but I couldn't put it down! Some sort of fatal fascination, I suppose. Definitely not for the prudish and the plot is a bit labrynthine, but the characterisation is spot on, and the style is racy and sweeps you along. I would definitely read another book by this author.
